Holiday Home Services
SmartSmith Electrical offers comprehensive holiday home services, including 3-yearly inspection reports and smart home solutions for owners.
As caravan owners we understand the importance of having your electrical equipment working reliably. The best way to ensure this is to complete a regular Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR). A core part of our holiday home services.
Many holiday parks now insist in these being completed ever three years. This is more regularly than a traditional home, and there are many valid reasons for this, for example the main chassis is highly conductive being made of steel.
What's Involved?
The inspection generally takes around an hour and a half, longer for larger lodges or complex electrical installations. During the inspection, the incoming supply and each circuit undergo rigorous testing—including continuity, insulation resistance, and earth fault loop impedance checks. This verifies the structural integrity of the wiring, ensures there is no risk of short circuits or electric shock, and confirms that all earthing and bonding are secure and fully effective.
The power will have to be switched off on some or all of the circuits for most of the testing, so make sure you don't start a washing cycle just before we arrive!
On completion the results are taken away to complete the report, which is emailed to you. You can then keep one with with your consumer unit for easy reference, and you can then share a copy with your site management team for their records. What's more we will automatically remind you in 3 years time when renewal is due!
Utilising your wifi network, we can add equipment to allow you to monitor activities at you holiday home when you are elsewhere, and more importantly, inform you if something unexpected/ unusual occurs.
Cameras and doorbells can give you live images (and normally sound) of what is happening in as well as around your park home, and can allow you to talk to someone at your front door, or warn off a potential intruder. If combined with a smart lock you can unlock the door to allow your visitor access (delivering a parcel or to await your arrival. You can lock the door again once they have left.
Door and windows sensors can tell you if one has been left open, or closed, and can act as an alarm when opened when you are away.
Should something go wrong, smoke alarms heat alarms, can inform you, while CO2 alarms can keep you and your loved ones safe. An interesting option is a water leakage detector. If a smart valve on your water supply is also fitted, this could minimise expensive flooding in the event of a burst pipe or similar. All part of our smart holiday home services.
